Now I’d like to say something that affects music ministers. Sometimes, I’m lined up with other music ministers. And it so happens that the person who ministered before me ‘scattered’ the whole place. As in, everywhere was haywire, positively. Now, the temptation for me is to try and prove something too. But at that moment, remain true to yourself, the flavour of your calling and the colour of your personality. A few weeks ago, a scenario like this happened. The younger minister before me was really vibrant. Now, I thought I would be really stupid to match what he did. I’m much older. I don’t have that kind of energy plus it’s never been my style. God helped me to do what I had to do. And then you leave the stage and really wonder if what you’ve done has blessed anyone. Anyone relate? It had been a rather hectic day for me. Got off the stage and left to drive home. As I made my way to my car, a gentleman walked up to me and said with tears in his eyes “you made me cry today”. I held him close and prayed with him. If I hadn’t stayed true to how God has graced me, that may not have happened. It’s very important to be clear about how God has graced you. Learn from others, observe and be inspired by others, but stay true to the colour of your own grace. I hope this is of help to anyone who’s a worship leader or gospel artiste.
