Radio personalties receive lots of records daily both in soft copy and hardcopy. This creates the problem of which song to play, songs making wave, popular demand, etc. Nevertheless, a good ARTWORK will definitely attracts his/her attention.

Also, working with a renowned PRODUCER might get your song listening ears. I always look forward to hear new songs produce by Cohbams, Wole Oni, Masterkraft, Frank Edwards and other great musical producers. I’m not saying you must work with the aforementioned ace producers to get mass airplay but working with hitmakers might get you a chance.

Unique Selling Preposition (USP), the song title is another great factor radio personalties consider before playing a record. Your song could be radio friendly or people’s choice yet with wrong title. For example, titles like “My God has elevated me” “I shall triumph in Jesus name” “Lift up your spirit oh you worshippers”. These titles already give an insight to the song context. “Elevated” “Triumphist” “Get up” “Ah aah” “Unchained” titles like these are catchy.

I will definitely play any song I see someone like Frank Edwards, Nathaniel Bassey, Chioma Jesus, Samsong and lots of A-listers on. Don’t get it twisted! You don’t need to collaborate with A-listers for your song to make wave. A COLLABORATION with a renowned artiste who has good songs to his credit over the years might increase the chance of your song getting airplay.

Lastly, GOOD CONTEXT is a major factor for your song to be on the presenter’s playlist all the time. You could have a good artwork, worked with ace producer and featured Kirk Franklin, once the context out of which the song arose is dicey, no way. It will shock you that some contemporary gospel songs have “Dia Fada” “Iyalaya” “Gerrout” “Jabo were” “shayo” as part of the song lyrics. Ghen-ghen!

Try and keep the lyrics clean. The name of Jesus Christ and clean context are the major facts that separate gospel songs from secular ones. So guys keep it so-so good! keep it so-so great!
