Kenya based Costa Rican Gospel artiste, Sofi Mendez releases new single “My Strength”.
Sharing the inspiration behind the song, Sofi said she was going through a difficult time and as she was praying in her room and reading the word of God, lyrics started pouring out which became into a worship song. Little did she know, some months later this same song helped Sofi remember that God is our strength while she was lying in a hospital bed diagnosed with COVID and fighting for her life.
Sofi Mendez was born on 30th September 1995 in Costa Rica. She is a songwriter, worship leader and gospel minister currently based in Nairobi, Kenya since 2016.
Sofi has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing.
Her ministry is focused on using the arts, excellence and quality music to draw people from all around the world closer to God and have a relationship with him.

About Sofi Mendez
Sofi’s parents are pastors and she was raised in a Christian home. She received a prophecy at age four that she would be an international music minister. At age seven she joined church choir and has not stopped serving God since.
At age ten her family was called to ministry in the island of Cyprus where she lived for five years serving as a sound engineer and choir member. Sofi then went back to Costa Rica at age 15 where she served as a Sunday school teacher, usher and bible study group leader while still singing and serving as worship leader.
Sofi has sang with Sinach in Kenya on various occasions, and curtained raised for Mary Mary and Sinach. She has done back ground vocals for international ministers such as Dr.Tumi, Sonnie Badu, Donnie McClurkin, Sammie Okposo, Dee Jones, among others.
In 2016 she founded “Make Africa Smile” a humanitarian aid project to help children in extreme poverty with food and education. The project has impacted the lives of over 2,000 children in different countries of Africa.
Sofi was trained as a worship dancer in her home country Costa Rica for 6 years. In 2017 she started teaching interpretative dance in Kenya, by teaching innovative dance techniques with unconventional dance instruments. Sofi has trained over 100 youth in dance theory and techniques.
In 2020 she launched a free mentorship program “Growth Sessions with Sofi” to train and equip music ministers. The program offers courses in Marketing, writing songs, vocal technique and more. People from over 10 different countries, ages 16 to 55 have been mentored through this program.
Sofi released her first original song“Higher” in 2019, followed by“We call your name”and “All I need is you” in 2020.
In September 2020 Sofi released her first EP “The Beginning”while celebrating 10 years of ministry.
